Cubism - Picasso's Little Owl

Image
I haven't presented this artwork to any students yet but I will eventually.......   These are the resource images that I imported into the app.          PROCEDURE: 1. Once the artwork has been created and printed, I will get the students to re-create the owl by following the edges of the geometric shapes. 2. We will use posca pens, black markers, metallic markers and fine line Artlines.   OPTION: 1. The image created with the app could be printed  as a black and white image.  2. Student could re-create the owl by following the edges of the geometric shapes with a black marker. 3. This could then be traced onto paper to create a cubist style image. This could then be painted, watercolour, etc. Could even be a design for lino printing.    RELATED ART APPRECIATION:

As promised, here are some of the student's artworks that we created today. The class was a Year5/6 combination, ages 11 and 12 years.  I was super impressed with what was done..... I just love them.... Here are some "before" and "after" pics to show you the student's progress....   Some more completed artworks......

Drawing with Lines - Owls

Image
I think the kids will love doing this artwork. It is quite simple but looks very effective when completed. We will use oil pastels (oil crayons) as chalk pastels can be a problem with young kids - they can get pretty messy and dusty. I will post some artworks created by the kids later..... This is my sample artwork to show the kids.....   I was going to make this a "cubist" artwork but changed my mind and completed the artwork using only lines. I drew the image with a white watercolour pencil.   With STEP 2, I took out the instruction about not letting the lines touch or overlap. The image used here was my inspiration. I found it on Pinterest and all credit goes to the person who created it. It is not my artwork. On the back of this, I printed 4 images of owls that the kids could use as resource images.    Artworks created by students to follow........

My Stress Release

Image
I went back into high school today for a casual day....... casual is not the word I would use to describe some aspects of the day!!!! I think I will stick with working in primary schools.....no stress!!!! When I got home I was so disappointed. Not because I had been horribly verbally abused by two students but because these two kids thought it was OK to do it...sad. So I got on my old but trusty laptop and created some signature covers and cover pages for my handmade journals. Seriously love making my journals. I thought I'd put them on my blog so you could see how I get rid of my stress......I will put on some pics of my journals later on...... at the moment I am going through my medieval, royal courts and Marie Antoinette stage...... The figure is from Leonardo's da Vinci, The Virgin of the Rocks , c. 1483-86, oil on panel, 199 x 122 cm (Louvre, Paris).  The background was created using layered images of antique jewellery with Medival and Renaissance close ups of fabric
