EMU - Mixed Media Drawing with Aboriginal Symbol (Emu)

Image
This is a simple artwork but the media application/technique creates a very visual image. I think students will like it because its doesn't rely heavily on the ability of the student to be able to draw well. As long as it looks vaguely like an emu (bird) at the end,  then the artwork is a success.  OPTION: The Resource Images could be replaced by a DIRECTED DRAWING so I have included instructions below. I hope you like it..... RESOURCE IMAGES:

STUDENT ARTWORKS - Possums

Image
I had to come up with an artwork really quickly for a Year 2 class. So I modified one artwork ( Possums in Charcoal), printed up just one of the possum Resource Images onto brown thin cardboard and students completed the artwork using black and white watercolour pencils, some white posca pen and colored chalk pastel background. We talked about the TEXTURE of fur and how lines can be used to create that texture. We also looked at the DIRECTION of fur and how it gre w on the possum. I am super impressed with the end result as it all happened so quickly and I was worried that my idea might have been too high order and above their expected artistic abilities but they proved my wrong, so wrong.  Well done to the students in Year 2 at Jordan Springs Public.......
