STUDENT ARTWORKS - Aussie Animals in Aboriginal Art

Image
I love doing this artworks with the students for a number of reasons: 1. They get to use the grid drawing technique to create accurate proportions. (cross-curriculum link with Mathematics - enlarging an image by 100%) 2. Use lines to create "simulated texture" allows them to achieve elements of realism. 3. Come away from the artmaking experience with an artwork that they are so proud of. Following are artworks created by students at Windsor Park Public, Years 5/6. They are so good.

DIRECTED DRAWING - Emu

Image
I created INSTRUCTIONS as I was tp help out a teacher who felt unsure oh re artistic abilities. Lack of confidence can be real bummer as I experienced myself as a young teacher when first taught out of my subject area. I hope this can help others in some way. Once the drawing is established, it can be finished off using any media. I have to confess that I did not create the original emu drawing....I cheated. I used a colouring image (emu head) from supercoloring.com (found on Pinterest) and added a neck. Thanks to that website, they have some really good images. I will create an artwork to go with this tutorial, I am just deciding which media. Seriously thinking of newspaper collage or something like that. Any suggestions from you guys would be nice.....
