AN AUSSIE CHRISTMAS - Kindergarden and Year 1

Image
I thought posting this artwork now might inspire some of you to begin the artwork and build upon it as the weeks lead up to the end of Term4 and Christmas. The images that I am using as inspiration came from Pinterest and were originally in png format. I have selected the cutest koala and I made an outline drawing of it. This outline drawing will be photocopied on A3 watercolour paper. Students will be encouraged to use a variety of colours rather than copying what the see on the on the original image. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Have the outline drawing photocopied onto eitherA4 or A3 watercolour paper. 2. You will notice that the koala is missing his Christmas hat. With a lead pencil, students need to draw their own Christmas hat onto the baby koala. They can use the original image as inspiration or the teacher can do a simple directed drawing of a Christmas hat that the students can follow along and draw onto their artwork. Its the teacher's choice as to how the Christmas hat gets onto t...

Just catching up with everyone

Hello Everyone, I am just letting you all know that soon I will be returning to work and that means more artworks and art lessons. I have been very busy with family issues and I havent posted anything for quite some time. Plus, I had reconstructive surgery on my foot and the recovery period for that has been very long and arduous. Learning to walking again is not an easy thing but the thought of returning to teaching Vis Arts to my students has been a strong motivation. Some of you have asked that I make more posts and I promise I will do that in the near future. Thank you to all those who have become my followers and to all the positive comments I have received. You support is also what motivates. Catch up soon with some Christmas artworks......

CHINESE NEW YEAR - Year of the Snake

Its been a while since my last post, but school is back now for Term 1 for 2025. I am back teaching as well but only for Term 1 as I will be taking some time off to deal with some personal stuff. I will be back later in the year but while I am home convalescing, I will have plenty of time to think up new ideas for artworks.   I hope everyone has great year at school and your students have many successes. A very belated Happy New Year to all. PRETTY PLATYPUS _Suitable for Stages 1, 2 and 3

Image
My latest teaching position is in a primary school as the Visual arts teacher, and I am loving it. Students in Year 2/3 asked me if they could make an artwork based on a platypus, so I have created something I think they will enjoy. The media used is watercolour paints onto watercolour paper with the platypus outline photocopied on the paper for younger students. Chalk pastels are incorporated into the background with bubbles made using a 1-inch hole punch. Older students in Years 4, 5 and 6 will have Resource Images to draw their own platypus directly onto the watercolour paper. This was a fun artwork to create and I am hoping that time will allow us to create it ourselves and then I can post the results for everyone to see.
