TERM 2, Stage 3 - History - First Contact - Aboriginal People

Image
I promised my Year 5/6 class that we would do some printmaking so we are using scratch foam. Students will create a print of an Aboriginal woman or man. This print will then be drawn into with black markers and fine tipped black Artline. Finally, it is glued to a background that is made up of torn pieces of vintage maps of Australia made by Capt. Cook. The collaged background is coloured/toned with brown tones of watercolour pencil. Sample artworks finally completed.....   RESOURCE IMAGES:

TERM 2, Stage 2/3 Combination - History - Sydney Parkinson: A Plant and Animal Explorer

Image
With this class, I wanted to do some printmaking, so I took an artwork that I taught with Year 7. years ago. The students will be using scratchfoam to create their printing plate so the worry with injuries is zero. I don't think the age difference between students in Years 4 and 5 to that of those in Year 7 (high school) will make any difference..... (Apologies for the blurry image)

TERM 2 - Stage 2, Year 3 and 4 - History - Explorer: Captain Cook

Year 3/4 will be basing their  artwork on Captain Cook. As I was writing this program, I was thinking of changes.    The background will now remain as a monochromatic background, the drawing of Capt. Cook will be in lead pencil shading with the edges torn and enhanced with brown scrapbook ink, applied as a grungy tone.
