STUDENT ARTWORKS - NEW CUBISM with Kindergarten/Year 1 Composite Class

Image
I first posted this artwork back on 21st October, 2008 so it was time to drag it back out again. It is such an easy artwork to do with any age students as Cubism allows students to create images that don't rely on any true elements of realism and proportion. If their artwork looks weird that's great. This is the latest collection of artworks from a Ms Parkinson's Kindy/Year 1 composite class at Windsor Public School (NSW, Australia). We had a great time creating these images and the students enjoyed using watercolour pencils and posca pens.  The white posca pen outlining was done by myself and some Year 6 helpers. I did add teeth and highlights in the eyes if the student asked me.

I AM A QUOKKA - Sponge Painting

This is going to be a long post as I am including everything needed to complete the artwork. I think the kids will love doing this as it uses only sponges, no paintbrushes, pieces of thick cardboard and black markers.    If I were to do this with Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2 kiddlings, I think I would copy the line drawings of quokkas onto A3 watercolour paper as lesson prep and then they can just complete the artwork from there.    The older kids, of course, would draw their own quokka onto watercolour paper using the Resource Images.   I apologise for the poor quality of the sample artworks. I forgot to snap a pic before I laminated it and the image is affected by light reflections. Sorry.     STAGE 2: Years 3 and 4 - CROSS-CURRICULUM LINKS Science Outcome ST1-1WS-S, ST1-2DP-T, ST1-4LW-S, ST1-5LW-T Content: *compares features and characteristics of living and non-living things ST2-4LW-S Survival of living things describe how livi
