Dreams and Fantasies - Year 8 Artwork



PROCEDURE:
1.        Students will view the Notebook Presentation that introduces them to requirement of this artwork and the theme.
2.        2. Student need to create 3 designs in their art book using the Rule of Thirds grid to compose their ideas.
3.        3. Select the best design and draw it onto a canvas. Canvas size; 45cm x 45cm or bigger. Draw the grid onto the canvas and copy the design on.
4.        4. If a canvas is not acquired, students will be issued with a half sheet of cardboard.
5.        5. LAYER 1: Coloured INK - Students select the warm or cool colour group and fill in the artwork with only the colours from the selected colour group. 
6.        LAYER 2: Paint – Student apply paint using the opposite colours to Layer 1. Paint is applied as dry brush or any expressive technique. It is important not to completely hide the ink layer/colours.
7.        LAYER 3:  Paint – Student apply paint using the opposite colours to Layer 1. Paint is applied as dry brush or any expressive technique. It is important not to completely hide the colours from Layer 1 and Layer 2.
8.        Redraw the entire artwork to re-establish the outlines with black markers.
9.        Using POSCA PENS, add additional line work and colour to the artwork.
10.     Outline the microscopic monster with a thick outline – approx 5-6mm.
  1. With WHITE POSCA PEN, carefully go around the edge of the black outline of the microscopic monster. This white outline can be made thicker, depending on the overall appearance.

    Students had a booklet printed with these papges so that they could write in the answers to questions, etc.
